Blackthorn Risk Europe brings the group’s specialist expertise in malicious and complex security risk to organisations and individuals based across Europe. We give European Union and European Economic Area-based clients, intermediaries and brokers direct access to Blackthorn’s capability under Irish and EU regulatory frameworks, supported by the wider group’s advisory and broking teams.
Our remit covers the deliberate threats most insurers do not specialise in — terrorism, kidnap and ransom (K&R), unlawful detention, extortive crime, political violence, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear risks (CBRN) and other complex security perils including evacuation and crisis response — helping clients protect their people, assets, operations and reputation with discretion and confidence.
Like the rest of the group, we operate without industry bias. Complex threats do not discriminate, and neither do we.

All European business is conducted through Academy Plus Insurance Limited, ensuring that EU and EEA clients are served entirely within the Irish and EU regulatory framework.
